  • Enjoy free Conservatory admission from 10 am to 4 pm. This occurs each month on the first Thursday.

  • 10 am - 4 pm

    Enjoy free admission for youth aged 12 and under to the Conservatory from 10 am to 4 pm with the purchase of paid adult admission. This occurs on the first Saturday of every month.

    11 am - 12ish pm
    Friends of the Conservatory hosts free family-friendly activities on the 1st Saturday monthly from 11 am - 12 pm (they often run later than noon). Activities will rotate and include activities such as coloring, origami, live music, and more!

  • Brad Schneider will give you a tour thru Volunteer Park as we explore and identify the magnificent trees, some of them the biggest ones in the city limits. He will show you, hands on the details to identifying each tree which you can use later on as you explore other trees in other parks or around your neighborhood.  Brad has been in horticulture for about 40 years of his life. He graduated from Cal Poly, SLO with degree in Ornamental Horticulture w/ Minor in arboriculture.  He has done horticulture in 5 states and has worked at the Missouri Botanical gardens.  He has just retired from the City of Seattle Parks where he was a Gardener and Senior Gardener for the Landscape crew for 23 years.

  • JOHN RIZIKI is a singer-songwriter from Accra, Ghana living in Seattle, WA.

    First writing songs as a teenager to better navigate and reflect on his experiences. John is now releasing his music into the world–sharing the stories and moments that shaped him, in hopes that everyone can relate them to their own.

Enjoy our guided tours and information on our rare plant collection, unique workshops, and music-dance-visual arts events that connect community in our “living botany museum.” Check out our offerings and find a variety of enriching and inclusive events and activities that celebrate science, arts & culture, history, architecture, music, and more.

Advocating for Preservation

For more than 40 years, the Friends of the Conservatory has led the effort to preserve the Volunteer Park Conservatory raising more than $3million for restorations and improvements. We partner with Seattle Parks & Recreation in maintaining our Conservatory, welcoming community into our spaces, and engaging in public advocacy campaigns to improve this living landmark. The Conservatory needs people like you! Every year, community members donate over 3,500 hours to the Friends of the Conservatory. Share your ‘super powers,’ meet folks, and learn new skills while you contribute to education, arts programming, and conservation. There are many opportunities available - event support, social media, Plant Sales, Gift Shop sales, outreach, graphic art and lots more. We’re growing everyday with your active participation at the Volunteer Park Conservatory!
