Join Orchid expert Mike Cory for an extra special Orchid Rescue workshop! Get a virtual behind the scenes peek at our century old Clise Orchid Collection in the production area of the Conservatory. Then join Mike for a potting demonstration and Q&A where Mike can give advice on your Orchids at home. With the workshop you will receive a kit of Conservatory Orchid Potting Soil mix, and a 5 inch orchid pot to follow along repotting one of your orchids at home. If you’ve ever struggled with Orchids, are an expert, or have one Orchid at home you’d like to understand better, this workshop is for you! Join us via zoom March 20, from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm.
Mike Cory is secretary of the NW Orchid Society, and a docent at the Volunteer Park Conservatory. He also works on the collections of orchids at the Conservatory and with the Botany Greenhouse on the University of Washington campus. Mike received the Bromeliad Award for outstanding volunteerism with the Volunteer Park Conservatory in 2019. For fun, he grows about 200 orchids in his greenhouse, and has been growing orchids for 25 years. The talk will focus on understanding orchids to make it easier to grow them in the home.
